JOB DESCRIPTION:

Administrative

• Staff/Personnel: supervising and monitoring

• Equipment/asset: procurement, decision for purchasing, maintenance and monitoring

• Approval: leave and attending of conferences

• Meeting: attending the CPDRL management, cluster, faculty, and SOSHcO meetings

• Organize the discipline meeting and vetting session

Professional & Technical

• Managing and organizing laboratory work, including supervision of biomedical scientist, science officer, medical laboratory technician and postgraduate student.

• Verifying and validating results

• Validating new and update existing techniques and tests

• Introducing and implementing appropriate molecular advances that aids in identification of certain isolate

• Implementing and ensuring the antibiotics susceptibility testing (AST) is perform based on the standard guideline (CLSI)

• Collecting data of ‘AST’ pattern in the institution that would be important tool for sentinel & national surveillance for infection control purposes

• Providing information and advice to other medical staff

• Providing expertise to clinicians, surgeons, anesthetist etc. in patient’s management (consultancy)

• Enrollment and implementation of external quality programme (EQA)

• Performing on-call on rotational basis

Quality Management

• Ensuring that all work done in the Microbiology laboratory according to endorsed standard operating procedures (SOP)

• Performing responsibility as an Internal Auditor for institutional level

• Participating ‘EQA’ activities at national & international level (IMR, MKAK & RCPA)

• Providing and delivering an awareness talk for ISO 15189

Training

• Providing CME to staff & post-graduate candidates

• Providing periodic attachment to the medical laboratory technician and science officer
